Child Benefit in Flanders
Since 1 January 2019, the Groeipakket was introduced to support Flemish families in the best possible way. Child benefit, and much more, with allowances awarded based on your specific situation.
You don't have to do anything to receive these allowance. Once you have made an application for the Startbedrag (maternity allowance) or Startbedrag adoption, you are automatically a member of Infino, and you can count on punctual payment of your Groeipakket.
The calculation of your Child Benefit amount
We handle different calculations depending on whether your child was born before or after 1 January 2019.

What is a Groeipakket / Child Benefit?
The Groeipakket consists of a basic amount and a series of allowances. These allowances are intended to help families as best they can, and depend on their financial and family situation.Who is entitled to the child benefit (Groeipakket)?
Every child born in Flanders from 1 January 2019 is entitled to a basic monthly amount of € 176,66.
*This amount was indexed on 1/09/2023. So it is possible that you received less before this date.
- Unconditional entitlement from birth to the 18th birthday
- The amount is paid to the parent(s) who raise the child
- The Groeipakket / child benefit is paid every month around the 8th
How can I apply for the Child benefit (Groeipakket)?
You don't really have to do anything to receive the Growth Package. Once you have applied for the Starting Amount (previously the maternity allowance or birth premium) from one of the payers, you are automatically a member of the Groeipakket.
